I was reading a magazine article the other night about this artist and her advice struck me in such a manner that I had to immediately underline it and embed it within my soul!
"Don't fret about getting photography 'right'. Accept advice but never let anyone tell you what to do or that you are doing something wrong. Certainly it's important to master a good sense of composition and acquire technical skills, but photography is an art, not a science and certain peoples motives for giving you directions can be due to their own insecurities or a desire to overpower." As quoted by Natalie "Miss Aniela" Dybisz for After Capture magazine.
I used to fret about my photography and getting images 'just right' to the point that I drove myself crazy! It took a couple of semesters to understand that we all find our true niche in art by opening ourselves up to the world through exploring, experimenting, and by the mistakes that we make! More or less, it is okay to just go out there and try it!
Here is an image of this flower that I found in my parent's backyard on Easter. I played around with the white balance to the point that the resulting image really intrigued me. I upped the color temperature of the white balance and it produced such a high contrast that it blew out most of the details of the flower, but the image is startling....let me know what you think?

While photographing in my backyard last weekend, I had also come across some discarded trash along the outer edge of the wooded area near the road. The sun was enhancing the colors on this empty pack of cigarette papers, so I snapped the image. I added several layers and here is the result:

I found this wonderful video by one of my favorite Irish punk bands "Flogging Molly". The video has such a wonderful artistic flair to it...I love the bits and pieces that the little stick man picks up along his journey:
I have updated this page to include a new item that I just found out about....the band that my son plays bass for has been added to the voting list of bands wanting to play for the Vans Warped Tour 2009. Please take a moment and click on the link below, listen to their music, sign-up, become a fan and register your vote for The Omaha Nights to earn the right to play the stage in front of thousands of fans! Please click on the image below and vote, vote, vote!
Have a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!
I like how you are drawn into the yellow vortex of the flower. The petals are guiding you to the sweet spot. Nice Pics.
Great photo results! I like the second one best. I tried voting for your son's band but I'm not sure if it worked. It was all a bit confusing for me I'm afraid. I do hope they score a Vans Warped Tour gig. That would be such super exposure for them!
